Bao Tielei, alternative
name is Manweng, Baoyizhaizhu, Yixinzhaizhu, he was born in Ruian, Zhejiang in

The
painters essay - Angkor Thom glimpse

The first time I
came to the Angkor Wat in Kampuchea, I was deeply shocked by the ancient stone
architecture. Angkor Wat, also known as the Angkor temple, is called the
national treasure of Kampuchea, is the largest group of temples in the world,
and also a world-class art treasure.
Angkor Wat has concentrated an oriental
Kingdom's rise and fall, there was a period of more than 400 years of time,
Angkor Wat was quiet sleeping in the history of the storm, lost in the jungle
cover all the sky under the shadow, disappeared in people's sight and memory.
It was until 1858,
that a Frenchman trudged across the mysterious jungle of Southeast Asia, he has
been discovered that the once glorious legacy of great power, which has been
portrayed the history on the wall.
I was with the
painter delegation organized by China "painting and calligraphy"
magazine to Angkor Wat collect folk songs and sketching, in the end of March,
in the country was cool spring breeze, people wearing long pants and long
garment, we arrive in Kampuchea Siem Reap, it was the summer, clothing was
soaked by sweat, the outdoor temperature up to 40 degrees, but the hot weather
did not reduce our appreciation of praise the ancient buildings in Angkor Wat.
We sat on the
floor, have took up with a painting tool, ink sketches, watercolor sketches,
pen sketches, a pieces of paintings of beautiful works continuously appearing,
attracted visitors from around the world gathered to watch. The most surprising
thing was that managers in Angkor area in Kampuchea communicated with us in
English that they have never seen artists directly outdoors painting facing the
scenery, only know that painting are in houses.
It could be the
first time they saw the outdoor sketching. A few days down we drew many sketch
drawings, shot a lot of precious photos, as the future creation of the
material, all the painters came back with fruitful results.
The activity of
collecting folk songs and sketch is rewarding, first of all to thank the
support of the Kampuchea Museum of art and the classical Angkor staff, and also
thanks for the organization of the activity of the "Chinese painting and
calligraphy" magazine, especially director Kang came to Kampuchea visit us
in very busy.
The good memory
left by the sketch is worth a lifetime of treasure.
